Invest In Your People
Don’t look for Talented team, instead make Team talented.
As leaders, everyone of us want to have talented people to be part of the team. Hiring smart, innovative people is only half of the equation. Instead of always looking to hire people from outside, try to focus on training your existing team. Training your team is an investment — and one well worth making. Employees who lack skills or knowledge are likely to struggle in a role they aren’t properly equipped for, causing demotivation, anxiety and underperformance.
The world is changing with every passing day. New technologies, software, applications are being introduced every other day for making the life of human beings easier. Training is one of the most important means of learning and skill development in professional life. Although a person is well educated and qualified when he/she enters the job market and becomes part of an organization. However, there is a sharp difference in learning and knowledge developed in student life and that of practical life.
“It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do. We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.” — Steve Jobs
I see this all too often. We hire smart people and then micromanage or stifle them out of our organizations. No one is smart enough to know it all, do it all, and be it all. Great leadership requires us to be humble, to know our limitations, and to be wise enough to understand that when we surround ourselves with people smarter and more capable than us isn’t intimidating it is leading.
As technology advances and workplace methods and strategies improve, there comes a need for employers and employees to align with these changes in terms of knowledge, skills, values and abilities. One of the best ways to enhance knowledge and skills is through training. Getting employees exposed to relevant and consistent training can help companies improve performance and increase results in the workplace.
Keeping team engaged and their skills sharp requires work. The best way to foster this type of focus and dedication is to really get to know your team members. This is done by developing lasting and meaningful relationships with them. Listen to them, find out their passions and concerns, and understand how they envision their professional growth and development. The best team members are often the most creative, and providing them with additional outlets to shine will drive them even further and make them even more valuable.
The key to leading a successful organisation is developing a team that enables members to contribute to the best of their ability. By surrounding yourself with smart and driven folks, who are able to be just that — smart and driven — you will develop a culture that yields a great deal of success.

According to Gallup, 87% of surveyed millennials claim that professional development and career growth are very important — in fact, they want their jobs to serve as development opportunities. Companies that provide continuous professional development and career growth opportunities for their employees show that they are invested in them and consequently, motivate their employees to work harder while instilling trust and fostering loyalty between both parties.
Investing in your team is not just a concept to attract talent but also to retain and engage them once they’re in the business and is therefore something that should be done whether or not the technology recruitment market is busy.
